The defending District VII East champs had a tough weekend against D1 opponent LSC-Montgomery. The Owls Dropped both ends of a double header while working out the early season kinks.

Stephen F. Austin began its program in 2012 and entered their first ever season as a club this past weekend with hopes of a successful inaugural campaign. Little did they know that success would find them so soon. Led by Trent Loria, Johney New, and former Longhorn standout Jonathan Fletcher on offense SFA put up 30 runs in their first series as a team. In addition to the strong hitting, Brandon King and Nick Baker each threw gems to hold Sam Houston State down all weekend.

Houston enters the season as the preseason #15 in the NCBA D2 poll; however, their season got off to a disappointing start after dropping both games of a doubleheader on opening weekend of the NCBA season to Division 1 opponent Lone Star College Montgomery. The Cougars struggled both offensively and defensively. Quinton Rohrbough battled through adversity on the mound for the Cougs allowing just 2 ER despite some defensive errors. The Cougars look to rebound next weekend against Lone Star Kingwood.
