The LSU Tigers announced their presence in the NCBA with a series win over non-conference rival Alabama. The Tigers dropped Game 1 but were able to turn the tables in Game 2 with a thrilling extra innings win with a final of 8-7. The Tigers then capped the weekend with a 10-6 win. The Bayou Bengals were led offensively by team president Zan Prejean who went 4-8 with 3 RBI, 2 runs scored, and 2 BB in 3 games.

Rice opened the 2014 campaign with a bang, scoring 16 runs in a Saturday doubleheader against D1 opponent Houston. The Owls were led at the plate by Stephen Wallin who finished 3-6, with a 2B, 2 RBI, 3 runs scored, a stolen base, and 3 BB. On the mound, Chris Walker stood out with a solid outing to earn his first victory of the season. The Owls move to 2-0 to start the season.

Tulane earned their stripes this past weekend in the Big Easy. They knocked off #1 Stephen F Austin by taking 2 out of 3 in this non-conference series. For the Green Wave, Blair DeBart got the offense started all weekend and Brett Salomon was the man that cashed in, going 4-5 with 4 BB, 4 RBI, and a HR! Matt Kogan was unstoppable on the mound earning 2 victories and a PITW honor to go with it. For SFA, the offense was led by Kyle Allen and Trent Loria. Allen also earned the lone victory on the mound for the Lumberjacks. Tulane starts the season 2-1 while the defending national runner ups start 1-2.
